First, Nikia Mapp testifies…

Woman: Officer forced me to have sex
By Kimball Perry, Post staff reporter

“…Nikia Mapp said she met Patrick Knight just three times, but at each meeting the on-duty Cincinnati police officer forced her to perform oral sex on him as he stood outside his police cruiser in full uniform….'He said, "If this ever gets out, I will kill you and your family,'' Ms. Mapp testified….'They wouldn't believe me. Who's going to believe a crackhead over an officer?' she asked. 'I also was kind of scared it would get back to Patrick Knight ... because of the threat he made toward me.'”

Second, Patrick Knight goes to jail…

One-year sentence given for extortion
By Dan Horn, The Cincinnati Enquirer

"...Patrick Knight's family and friends say his job as a police officer gave him a chance to pursue the “bright career” he had sought for most of his life. But a judge said Friday it also gave him the opportunity to victimize women. “You took unconscionable advantage of them,” Judge Robert Kraft said. “You disgraced the proud uniform of the Cincinnati police.” The judge then sentenced Mr. Knight to one year in jail for extorting or attempting to extort sex from two women in exchange for not arresting them. Mr. Shiverdecker had urged the judge to be lenient, noting that Mr. Knight already had lost his reputation and career. “One of his lifetime ambitions was to be a police officer,” Mr. Shiverdecker said. “That lifetime goal is forever gone.”
Assistant Prosecutor Chris McEvilley said Mr. Knight has never taken responsibility for his actions and deserves the maximum sentence. “He is in total denial,” she said. “He shows no remorse.”
The judge said it's clear Mr. Knight had a good career and a loving family. He also noted that several relatives, including his two daughters, had written
“heart wrenching” letters of support. “I can't fathom why you chose to ruin a promising career,” the judge said.

Finally, Nikia Mapp is found dead....

Burning Body Found Underneath Truck's Trailer
Police Look For Clues In Woman's Death

CINCINNATI -- Police are investigating the death of a woman whose body was found burning early Sunday. A passerby reported a small fire underneath a semi's
trailer at about 8 a.m. on Stark Street in Over-the-Rhine, WLWT Eyewitness News 5 reported.
Firefighters called police after discovering the fire was actually a person, WLWT reported.

The victim was identified later Sunday as Nikia Mapp, 30.

Investigators are asking anyone with information about Mapp or her death to call (513) 352-3040. Callers are permitted to remain anonymous.
Stay tuned to WLWT Eyewitness News 5 and ChannelCincinnati.com as the investigation into Mapp's death continues.

Prostitute's death a homicide...
By Craig Garretson
Post staff reporter

"...The cause of death is not being released at this time, but we can say that fire was not the cause of death," said Sgt. Lisa Thomas of the Cincinnati Police Department's Homicide Unit...."

NOT a suspect? Nothing to GAIN? Since when is 'something to gain' a determining factor!?

By Craig Garretson
Post staff reporter
"...Homicide investigators said they "haven't ruled anybody out," but don't suspect that Knight is connected to Mapp's death. "There's absolutely no reason to suspect that he'd be involved in this. He'd have nothing to gain from it. He served his time and moved on with his life," said Sgt. Lisa Thomas of the Homicide Unit..."

To Homocide:

Whatever you find, please report it.  No one should have to die that way.  Man does not have the power to take lives when they want to.  Only God has that power!!
I can't help but feel Officer Knight had something to do with this.  I don't feel bad about the time he had to spend in jail.  If he cared so much about his lovely family and his career, he would not have had Ms. Mapp perform anything sexual with him.
If someone is doing something illegal, you bring them in.  We have to be held accountable for our actions.
Even if we never can prove who murdered Ms. Nikia Mapp, the person that committed this crime will have to live with the guilt as long as they live.  Guilt is an ugly demon that will eat away at you.  The individual could always ask the Lord for his/her forgiveness and come forward.  If the individual does not come forward and repent, he/she will have to live with the consequences.

Sincerely,
Born in Cincinnati

I'll try to contact the funeral home and see if I can find anyone.
I'm really booked right now with stories for the next couple weeks I'd already committed to, but I have mentioned this to the editor to see if anyone else can pick this up and take a look.

Thank you for responding. Just looking for justice, truth, and awareness which seems to be somewhat evasive in this case.

The funeral for Nikia Mapp was held Saturday 01/18/03 at Hall Jordan Funeral Home, 2625 Gilbert Avenue, cincinnati, Ohio 45206 513-281-7712 and they may have contact information for someone close to her that may be willing to offer additional information.

Thank you again for responding. I found another article about Nikia. I found the following comments interesting.

"..."There's absolutely no reason to suspect that he'd be involved in this. He'd have nothing to gain from it. He served his time and moved on with his life," said Sgt. Lisa Thomas of the Homicide Unit..."

This type of comment almost suggests that there has to be something gained from every crime, or maybe at least from this crime? If that type of logic is used in police investigations, it doesn't seem as if anything would be solved. I thought there were crimes committed every day based upon anger, jealousy, love, hate, etc.

Nikia!

I am writing you this message from my heart!  I am writing you this message because I know that you are on the receiving end and know shows emphathy for what has happened to you.

I know that this happened to you for a reason.  The reason is so that other "injustices" like this won't happen to other people who will have did the right thing such as you and have to suffer and be "punished."

I do believe that we have "blue print," that we map out before we come to this earth.  I do believe that we choose the way we are going to exit the earth in a physical sense.

I do believe that if people look at the message that is sent after justice has prevailed for you, because it will, then the people won't feel that your death is in vain.  They will know that your spirit will live on forever....

God Bless you and your family!

Sincerely,

*******
